NVQ Courses
NVQ courses are available for people who wish to acquire, or hone their existing skills in a certain field whilst working towards a vocational qualification. NVQ Courses are available for almost every conceivable profession or line of work, ranging from beauty therapist to welder. According to the governments NVQ website there are currently more than 1,300 different NVQ courses on offer.
One of the primary aspects of NVQ courses that appeals to many people is the fact that there is no set time limit to how long a candidate has to complete a course. Although it usually takes around 12 months to achieve a level 1 NVQ, the courses can take as long as they need. This makes NVQ courses an ideal option for people who are in full time work and are looking to gain a qualification, whilst refining their skills at work.
A specially qualified assessor manages the NVQ courses and they will be required to observe and question candidates about their performance in a real working environment. Additionally they will test the candidates on their knowledge as well assigned them various practical tasks and assignments. When the assessor is suitably pleased that the candidate has performed well enough and demonstrated their competency they will sign them, allowing them to continue to the next part of their NVQ course.
Many people take NVQ courses as the resultant qualification can be used to springboard them onto other, more advanced courses, such foundation degrees or a higher national diploma.
